ABOUT ME: WHY I COUNSEL
I am Catherine Drury, a qualified Counsellor (University of Leicester), based in Rutland which borders Cambridgeshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. www.bacp.co.uk I am an Associate of Cambridgeshire Consultancy in Counselling (CCC). www.cambridgeshirecounselling.org.uk
I counsel because:
-
counselling and the counselling process transformed my self-development and continues to do so
-
when two people (professional and client) collaborate to excavate difficulties a client brings, the process can be transformative
-
understanding and acceptance of ones ‘self’ generates sustainable personal growth that enhances all aspects of life and promotes genuine happiness
-
whatever brings a client to counselling (e.g. anxiety, despair, addiction, bereavement, traumas, worthlessness, etc.), facing fear and pain within the counselling process can unlock, repair and heal
-
a Dentist treats a sore tooth or gums; a Physiotherapist treats an aching back or hand; a Counsellor is there to help treat internal wounds that hurt feelings and thoughts and that block inner peace and happiness
-
it is a privilege to collaborate with another person who accesses counselling.
